parkrun volunteers Dianne and MarianAll in all a month of strong parkrun performance from 26 Seapark members.

Ian Clelland, continued his consistent performance at Carrickfergus parkrun taking first place on 11th July in 18:52 and 3rd place on 25th. Great to see Jonathan Beattie back after injury with a good time of 22:11 on 18th July. Charlie McCormick ran very consistently on his parkruns in July placing 5th twice with times of 20:37 and 20:41. On his one appearance at Carrickfergus parkrun, Richard Hetherington came 4th on 11th of July in a time of 20:39.

Bobbie Irvine completed 3 parkruns in total in July, one of these at Carrick and 1 at Antrim where he placed 5th in a time of 19:02 and it was an Irvine family parkrun parade at Hilly Fields parkrun in July with wife Nicola, son Gavin and daughter Emily on taking part!

Brendan Rice and his girls are firm favourites at Carrickfergus parkrun and Brendan completed all 4 parkruns at Carrickfergus in July taking 3rd place on 2 of these (11th and 18th).

Robert and his wife Glenda Murray both ran at Carrickfergus on 4th July with Robert finishing 3rd in a time of 22:06.

Finally for the first time, Seapark ladies took first place on two occasions at Carrickfergus – Gillian Barnhill, more accustomed to longer distances, was first lady at Carrickfergus parkrun on 5th July in 21:06 and Karen Poag on 18th July in a time of 25:18.

Other members attending Carrickfergus parkrun in June included Allan Grant, Mark Welsh, Gareth Hamill, Phil Poag, Tony Barclay Roisin McConnell, Gary Connolly, Jonathan Brown. Johnathan Bell and Angela McCormick.

 

parkrun tourism!

Lots of parkrun tourism going on as well in July to other local parkruns in Antrim for Bobbie Irvine and Robert (21:11 PB) & Glenda Murray. Robert also visited Larne for the beautiful and scenic Carnfunnock parkrun. Trevor Lamb visited Waterworks and also Victoria with Colin McCrumm (21:12 PB) and Karen McMaster took part in the Ormeau parkrun.  It was sunny Portrush that was chosen by the Hetherington family for their visit to parkrun on 19th July.

Further afield the Irvine four all took part in Hilly Fields, Lewisham with Gavin doing his 56th run at Hull parkrun and Emily finishing 3rd lady on her visit to Carrickfergus.

parkrun roundup – June

June was a buy month for Seaparkers at parkrun.

Ian Clelland, running very consistently at present,  secured 1st male at Carrickfergus on two consecutive weeks 20th & 26th, Ian Hunter took 3rd male on his June parkrun at Carrickfergus in a PB time of 19:36. The Carrickfergus team welcomed Charlie McCormick back after his injury earlier in the year. Charlie put in a strong comeback performance on 27th June. Warren Cosgrove continued to improve on his parkrun time and bagged himself 29:33 on 27th June. After a long spell in the desert Bobbie Irvine decided to run at home in June, completing 3 runs at Carrickfergus. Other members attending Carrickfergus parkrun in June included Mark Welsh, Lynda Shannon, Gareth Hamill, Phil Poag and Tony Barclay.

parkrun tourism!

Lots of travelling going on as well in June to Portrush. – Ian Cleland on 13th June who took 4th place at Portrush. Gillian Barnhill dropped in to Carigavon on her way to a much longer run on that day (28th) and managed to secure 3rd lady! Robert Murray completed all 4 parkruns in June, one in Carrickfergus and the others at Antrim, Queen’s and Victoria. Colin McCrumm also completed all 4 parkruns in June with two away runs at Queen’s and Victoria. Karen McMaster chalked up her 50th parkrun in June and completed all 4 parkruns at 4 different locations! – Antrim, Carrickfergus, Queen’s and Waterworks. All that travelling Karen 🙂 Ruth Hawkins joined the tourist trail and managed her fastest parkrun time yet (24:55) in Antrim and Sara Johnston got her best time away from home as well with 28:47 at Portrush. Trevor Lamb – we missed you! – you did both your June runs at Ormeau. Finally Gavin Irvine completed his June run at Kirkcaldy and The Rice family went on a wee parkrun trip to Queen’s.

20th June – Carrickfergus parkrun

This Saturday saw another amazing turnout for the weekly Carrickfergus Parkrun with 135 runners turning up to run the 5k distance. This week featured a graduation of new runners from Jog Carrickfergus completing their first 5k. The Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 9.30 starting at Carrickfegus
Amphitheatre.

Seapark was frequently represented at the local Carrickfergus parkrun as well as at away runs during March.

Lynda Shannon completed a hat trick at Carrickfergus by coming first lady home at the 3 events she ran.

Ian Cleland continued his run of strong performances at Carrickfergus by placing in the top 3 first finishers on the three events he ran, including a new PB of 18:42.

It was another successful month for Charlie McCormick who placed third on the two Carrickfergus parkruns he completed as well as a new PB of 19:27.

The PB story continues with Richard Hetherington obtaining a fantastic new PB of 20:19 Seapark Junior member, Jonathan Brown getting a PB of 22:24 at one of his two Carrickfergus parkruns.

Meanwhile Seaparkers went on parkrun tour to events in Edinburgh , Victoria, Valley and Bangor. Trevor Lamb visited three parkruns in total during March; Valley, Falls and Victoria.

 

 

parkrun round-up – February 2015

 

February waparkrun pics a month that just got better for Seaparkers doing parkruns both at home and as far away as Scotland.

 

Philippa Bell and Richard Hetherington stamped their mark on event #49 in Carrickfergus, 7th February with new PB’s, 30:03 and 20:27 respectively.

The following week there was no fewer than 5 Seaparkers who got PB’s, also at Carrickfergus. Karen Waring 29:06, Charlie McCormick 19:35 & Angela McCormick 24:28 and Phil Poag 24:32. Event #50 at Carrickfergus was also the week that Ian Cleland got his first PB of the month with a time of 19:43.

21st February, Event 51 at Carrickfergus, Ian Cleland got his second PB of the month in a time of 19:28 and new Seapark member, Stacey Wilson, completed her first parkrun.

On 28th  February Jonathan Beattie in a time of 19:56 and Jonathon Brown 22:24 clocked up PB’s as well as Carol Downey with 37:13. To finish off the month at Carrickfergus Ian Cleland made it a hat trick of PB’s with a time of 19:07 landing him in second place overall that day.

Seaparkers attending other parkruns were equally as successful.

Trevor Lamb, 7th Feb at Waterworks 27:39, 20th February at Ormeau, 26:38 and to finish it all off a time of 26:20 at Queen’s on 27th February.

Neill Harper and Bobbie Irvine were also out and about. Neil ran 27:20 at Craigavon on 7th February and on the same day Bobbie was overall 3rd at Portrush with a time of 22:18.

Finally to round of the month, Gavin Irvine completed his regular run at St Andrew’s in a time of 27:38 making this Gavin’s 50th parkrun and gaining him the award of his 50 T-shirt from parkrun.
