21st March 2015 – Larne Half Marathon

Seapark athletes were out in force on Saturday at the AES Larne Half Marathon. 20 in total completed the scenic route along the coast to Ballygally and back.

15th March – Dune and Downpatrick

Sunday 15th March, Dune Half Marathon

Dune HalfFive Seapark Athletes travelled to Newry to race the Dune Half Marathon. This race is an annual cross border event between Newry and Dundalk, attracting athletes from all over Ireland and beyond. Results: Charlie McCormick 1:31:02, Brendan Rice 1:34:39, Richard Hetherington 1:37:06, Caroline Salters 1:43:22 and Gillian Strudwick 1:54:19.

 

 

 Jimmy’s 10k in Downpatrick

14 Seaparkers ran the popular annual Jimmy’s 10k in Downpatrick, the route of Jimmy's 10kwhich took them through the grounds of Down Cathedral and along part of the Quoile River Walk. Results: Mark Welsh 45:25, Angela McCormick 50:50, Philip Poag 51:12, Neill Harper 51:24, Karen Poag 51:56, Vivien Davidson 52.22, Alison Welsh 55:16, Philip Magill 59:09, Marie Nicholson 59:13, Ann McCracken 1:01:03, Karen McMaster 1:05:28, Geraldine Kane 1:08:41, Megan Kane 1:12:50 and Carol Downey 1:17:42.

8th March – Seapark members at Carlingford and Addiction NI races

Tony and Viv Carlingford Half

Two Seapark athletes, Tony Barclay and Vivien Davidson, competed in The Carlingford Half Marathon on Saturday 7th of March. Tony, who is a blind runner,  continues his preparations along with his guide Vivien, for the forthcoming Derry Marathon at the end of May. Both runners finished the race in 2hrs 20.22

 

 

Trevor Lamb Addiction NI

Also at the weekend Seapark athlete Trevor Lamb competed in the Addiction NI 10K race at Ormeau Park. Trevor finished with a personal best time of 54.11.  Joining him in this race, also from Seapark AC, were Andy Smyth 54.50, Sarah Rea 1.04.45 and Carrie Brown 1.04.45

parkrun round-up – February 2015

 

February waparkrun pics a month that just got better for Seaparkers doing parkruns both at home and as far away as Scotland.

 

Philippa Bell and Richard Hetherington stamped their mark on event #49 in Carrickfergus, 7th February with new PB’s, 30:03 and 20:27 respectively.

The following week there was no fewer than 5 Seaparkers who got PB’s, also at Carrickfergus. Karen Waring 29:06, Charlie McCormick 19:35 & Angela McCormick 24:28 and Phil Poag 24:32. Event #50 at Carrickfergus was also the week that Ian Cleland got his first PB of the month with a time of 19:43.

21st February, Event 51 at Carrickfergus, Ian Cleland got his second PB of the month in a time of 19:28 and new Seapark member, Stacey Wilson, completed her first parkrun.

On 28th  February Jonathan Beattie in a time of 19:56 and Jonathon Brown 22:24 clocked up PB’s as well as Carol Downey with 37:13. To finish off the month at Carrickfergus Ian Cleland made it a hat trick of PB’s with a time of 19:07 landing him in second place overall that day.

Seaparkers attending other parkruns were equally as successful.

Trevor Lamb, 7th Feb at Waterworks 27:39, 20th February at Ormeau, 26:38 and to finish it all off a time of 26:20 at Queen’s on 27th February.

Neill Harper and Bobbie Irvine were also out and about. Neil ran 27:20 at Craigavon on 7th February and on the same day Bobbie was overall 3rd at Portrush with a time of 22:18.

Finally to round of the month, Gavin Irvine completed his regular run at St Andrew’s in a time of 27:38 making this Gavin’s 50th parkrun and gaining him the award of his 50 T-shirt from parkrun.
