On Sunday almost 1200 runners took part in the Titanic 10k race in Belfast. This event was well attended by athletes from Seapark, with many gaining personal best times on the course. Ian Cleland ran a particularly strong race with a superb time of 37.46. Results: Ian Cleland 37.46, Jonathan Beattie 40.11, Mark Welsh 46.25, Neill Harper 50.23, Angela McCormick 50.28, Philip Poag 50.41, Karen Poag 52.14, Andy Smyth 52.25, Alison Welsh 55.51, Ann McCracken 58.09, Karen  McMaster 1.04 Geraldine Kane 1.10.

 

4th Apr – Jennie Hagan – Whitehead 5 mile

Monday 6th April 2015 (Easter Monday), Jennie Hagan, Seapark Junior,  was one of the two hundred athletes taking part in the annual Whitehead 5 mile road race.

A first race for Jennie, the popular long standing Easter Monday fixture has become a ‘must do’ event for many Seaparkers and the weather was perfect as the athletes took on the challenging three lap course.

Good results were posted from all of the 14 Seapark runners with Jennie taking first place in her category. Well done Jennie!

 

Race Report from Angela McCormick

The great weather on Easter Monday attracted large crowds to Whitehead for the annual 5 mile road race. Twelve athletes from Seapark completed the race with
Ian Cleland taking 8th position overall and Jennie Haggan coming in first in her under 19 age group.

parkrun round up – March

Seapark was frequently represented at the local Carrickfergus parkrun as well as at away runs during March.

Lynda Shannon completed a hat trick at Carrickfergus by coming first lady home at the 3 events she ran.

Ian Cleland continued his run of strong performances at Carrickfergus by placing in the top 3 first finishers on the three events he ran, including a new PB of 18:42.

It was another successful month for Charlie McCormick who placed third on the two Carrickfergus parkruns he completed as well as a new PB of 19:27.

The PB story continues with Richard Hetherington obtaining a fantastic new PB of 20:19 Seapark Junior member, Jonathan Brown getting a PB of 22:24 at one of his two Carrickfergus parkruns.

Meanwhile Seaparkers went on parkrun tour to events in Edinburgh , Victoria, Valley and Bangor. Trevor Lamb visited three parkruns in total during March; Valley, Falls and Victoria.

 

 

29th March – Bunny Hop

The NI children’s Hospice Bunny Hop 5k was held at Hazelbank on Sunday morning. This charity race proved very popular for local runners and was well
attended by Seapark AC athletes and members of Seapark Team Jog.

Bunny Hop Group3Seapark runner Ian Cleland finished an impressive 3rd overall in a time of 19.48 with Gillian Cordner finishing second female in a time of 23.57.

28th March – Omagh Half Marathon

Omagh HalfThe 26th Omagh Half Marathon took place on Saturday 28th. This race is one of the most popular in the Province with 4000 entrants participating in the half marathon distance, 5k and walk.

Seapark AC was well represented, with the following results, Charlie McCormick 1.32, Richard Hetherington 1.38, Mark Welsh 1.39, Gary Connolly 1.41, Gillian Cordner 1.49 and Gillian Strudwick 1.54. Alison Welsh took part in the 5k race completing the distance in a PB performance of 27.53.

25th March – Queen’s 5k

Queen's 5k group allSeapark team go PB BONKERS at Queen’s 5k on Wednesday night.

This fast paced race, attracted 700 athletes with the lead runners crossing the finish line in under 15minutes. Results for Seapark AC, Charlie McCormick 19.15 (PB), Caroline Salters 21.36 (PB), Alanah McCombe  21.43 (PB), Angela McCormick 24.37 , Andy Smyth 25.01 and Trevor Lamb 26.26.
